Originally from
Canada, I moved to Dublin, Georgia in 1996 and joined the River
Roots Visual Arts Alliance (formerly the Dublin
Artists' Guild) in 2004.
For as long as I can
remember, I have always sketched and drawn. As I reached
my teens, I started sketching more seriously and even
tried my hand at both watercolor and acrylic painting.
Then a trip to Holland introduced me to a new sketching
material, conte'. I purchased my first conte' while there
and began sketching with it upon my return home. In
the 1980's many of my sketches were sold and displayed in show
homes in western Canada.
In the early 1990's I
found an entirely new world when I began experimenting and
sculpting with paper mache. It quickly became my creative
medium of choice. I have been working with this medium for well
over 10 years now and have found great pleasure in producing
something 3D from flat newsprint.
Most recently, I have
begun to experiment with beading and various beading techniques
including jewelry, weaving, crocheting, and embellishing with
beads.
