I am a native of California but
call Georgia home.
I have been drawing and painting
for as long as I can remember. I believe that we do what we are
destined to do in life when we are young. I used to paint on
the walls when I was little, although I still deny that it was
actually me and blame my brother, after all isn’t that what
they’re for? I work mostly in oil and pastel and have a love
for portraiture.
I also believe that when you are
given a gift you should share it. So I teach a small group and
have been the recipient of great friendships and much knowledge
through teaching.
I have been blessed to be able to
study with some great masters such as: Daniel Greene, Richard
Whitney, John De La Vega, Carol Baxter Kirbey, Nancy Honea,
Johnnie Liliedahl, and Creig Serebnik, just to name a few and
give credit to some very giving teachers. Because I have
learned that the more I know, the more I know I don’t know. I
am currently studying with Marc Chatov.
I also think it’s important to be
active in the arts organizations. It puts you in contact with
other artist and even more important, these groups are promoting
the arts and art education.
I am a member of; The
American Society of Portrait Painter, Christians for
Portraiture, The New York Society of Portrait Artist, and The
Atlanta Portrait Society where I was the critique session
planner for two years. A founding member of the Fine Art Society
of Middle Georgia. River Roots Visual Arts Alliance, and I am
currently a board member of The Houston Arts Alliance and chair
the meet the masters program. This program gets us into the
schools to share the arts with so many students.
